PAT MCQUILLAN, a fighting feminist, has been fighting for her life for the past three years. She is now in the last stages of mastectic (breast) cancer and wants to go to Germany for an enzyme treatment not yet approved by the FDA for use in the U.S.
Pat believes that breast and other cancers are caused by the rage and frustration women suffer in a sexist society. She wants to use this trip to dramatize the plight of women who are ill and economically dependent on an exhusband or welfare, and help get some action going for a health system for all human beings. By the way, Pat's income is a little social security and alimony payments since she has been ill. Her ex-husband, a prominent Wall Street lawyer with no other family obligations, periodically witholds her checks. He is now several weeks in arrears. Appeals to his humanity have not helped, nor have threats to picket his office. He says he will sue NOW (even though he knows this is not a NOW action) and keep NOW lawyers busy for months. Pat does not want this to happen, and we respect her wishes.
Send one dollar to NYC NOW, Pat McQuillan fund., 47 E. 19th St., NYC, 10003. And don't be ashamed for the $1.00. (If we all sent $1.00 to all feminist causes they'd have no financial problems! }
AFTER many inquiries about the humorous "8 Ways to Remain Woman & Husband" from our our last issue, we must aknowledge it was not our own creative effort. Through an oversight. the credit was left out. Read the next issue of What She Wants to find out who wrote it. Also, Jane Darrah and John Shambach took the pictures
at the Kent State Rally. And Carolyn Jackson did June Groom.
I WOULD BE INTERESTED in finding out if there were other women in the area that would be interested in working on the development of a small women's theatre group. I'd like to work on women oriented plays, as well as productions for kids that would be liberating. I'm no expert but would be really interested in learning/doing along with some other women. Call me at Judy 371-0950 anytime before 11:00 p.m.any day.

NON-SEXIST CHILD-REARING. Two West Coast Sisters are preparing a book on sexism and childrearing. They would like to include the experiences that groups and individuals all over the country have had in their fight to raise both girls and boys in a non-sexist manner. Their particular interest is in those actions (past, present or ongoing) designed to eliminate sexism in schools, daycare centers, recreational organizations, religious groups, social services, the book and toy industries, and the media.
They feel that by sharing these experiences more people will be encouraged to affect similar actions in their own communities. Call 884-3955 for more information.
